Hi, Heather
Based on everything you've shared, I would proceed with extreme caution.
There are several things in these emails that concern me:
They use high-pressure language such as "this is your only opportunity," "40 fearless models," and "reply immediately," which is a common tactic to create urgency.
They state that a payment ("first installment") will be due during the onboarding meeting if you don't already have experience or representation. Reputable modeling agencies and productions generally do not require you to pay to secure a role on a television show.
There are inconsistencies in the emails, such as the onboarding date saying "Tomorrow, Thursday June 9" even though the email was sent in July. Mistakes like this can indicate poor organization or mass-produced marketing.
The fact that you joined the scheduled Zoom meeting and no one was there is another red flag. While technical issues can happen, a legitimate production should communicate promptly if there is a change or delay.
At this point, I would not send any money or sign any agreements until the company can verify the legitimacy of the production. If they contact you again, ask for:
The names of the executive producers.
The production company behind the show.
Where and when the series has actually aired.
The names of participating agencies.
References from previous contestants or winners.
If they continue to ask for payment before providing verifiable information or before any filming takes place, I would walk away.
I would also email them regarding the missed Zoom meeting. You could send something like this:
Hi Lauren,
I joined the Zoom meeting at my scheduled onboarding time today, but no one was present. I wanted to check whether the meeting was rescheduled or if there was a technical issue.
Please let me know if there is another time to meet. I appreciate your response.
Thank you.
Until they respond with a reasonable explanation and verifiable information, I would not make any financial commitment. There are enough warning signs here that it's important to be careful.
Kind Regards,
?Irving
